GMOs and the danger they pose

Genetically modified organisms, also known as GMOs are plants or animals that have been genetically changed with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. All GMOs are changed to withstand herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. None of the GMO traits that are currently on the market do not offer any consumer benefit.
It seems that there is a growing body of evidence that connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights.
Developed nations do not think that GMOs are safe, in fact more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, have restrictions or ban the production and sale of GMOs.
The U.S. government however, has approved GMOs based on studies conducted by the same corporations that created them and profit from their sale.
Even though Americans want to know if the food they are buying contains GMOs, the biotech companies lobby to keep this information from the public.
Most Americans want to know if the food they are purchasing contains GMOs. In the U.S. alone, GMOs are in as much as 80 percent of conventional processed food. Some of the highest risk crops that contain GMOs are alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, papaya, soy, sugar beets, zucchini and yellow summer squash.
Some of the most common household ingredients that come from GMOs include aspartame, vitamin c, high-fructose corn syrup and yeast products.
More than 80 percent of all GMOs that are grown worldwide are made for herbicide tolerance, because of this the use of toxic herbicides such as the product Roundup has increased. GMOs come from chemical agriculture; developed and sold by the world’s biggest chemical companies. The long-term effect of GMOs are not known, and once they are let out into the environment they cannot be recalled.
GMOs cause a threat to farmers and the national food security of any country where they are grown, including the United States.
We as humans cannot trust any form of genetically modified foods, especially those that are developed by biotech companies because there is no truth to what they are developing and in fact the world cannot live off of GMOs or support any nutritional need that we as humans need to survive. Farmers cannot spray their crops because those foods that are genetically modified make people ill and decrease their life spans. Make that choice for yourself: Live off of a whole foods approach and thrive and live longer or eat processed foods full of GMOs and die at an early age.
