Prez.Obama:The “coolest” celeb of them all

CoolObamaThose who don’t live under a rock are well aware of who Barack Obama is. If someone doesn’t live under a rock and still doesn’t know who he is, then they need some help. Not only is he the President of the United States, but he’s also been quite the glowing celebrity. Now, it’s important that a president be popular amongst the citizens of a country, but when he is attending dinners hosted at famous entertainers homes and is featured on television shows more than is acceptable, it’s time to slow down. By the time Barack Obama is done with his presidency, I’m pretty sure he’ll be featured in at least seven blockbusters.

From the first time he was elected back in 2008, Barack Obama has always been sort of infamous, not only because he’s the president, but because he’s the first African American President of the United States. That’s definitely something to brag about and be proud about. Within the last couple years though in his second term, Obama seems to be something of a growing celebrity rather than the president of our country. Not only has Barack Obama spent lots of time with power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, but he’s also been featured on Saturday Night Live and Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifinakis. On his most recent celebrity stint as the featured guest on Between Two Ferns, Obama was basically plugging the Affordable Care Act. I suppose it is a good strategy to target the younger generation, but I just can’t get past the fact that Obama was actually given a script and was completely okay with calling Galifnakis fat numerous times amongst many other insults. With obesity being such a big problem in America, I find it weird that the president of our country is comfortable making light of such a serious situation that we can’t seem to get rid of.

I can’t get past Obama being on Saturday Night Live as well. It seems to me that everybody seems to think that it’s great that our president can joke around and be so fun, but at the same time, he’s our president for a reason. His job isn’t to make random cameos on shows and to go to dinners with celebrities who have nothing to do with reforms or our economy or anything else that influences our government. He was elected to make America an even better place to live, not to hang out with Hollywood’s biggest stars.

With Obama sitting in office for two more years, who knows what is to come. My only hope is that he doesn’t decide to pick up a role in any movies any time soon, because I would be beyond embarrassed for our country. Being featured as the main guest on Between Two Ferns is bad enough.
