As Heidi Klum says in Project Runway, “In fashion, one day you’re in, the next day, you’re out.” Girls can never have enough clothes and that, may as well be the reason why.

When you flip through your closet, it definitely won’t be hard for you to find things you once liked so much it was your pick of the season. What’s funny is that now you look at it, you’ve lost the love for it. Not that it’s not pretty, you’re just not feeling it anymore.

Everyone does that every now and then and it’s OK to feel that way. For some more sentimental souls who think giving them away is like breaking your pledge of affection for them, get over it and stop acting all “till death do us apart.” We both know that at the end of the day, your “everlasting love” simply means nothing but storing them at the back of your drawer, only to rediscover it when it got stucked and you can’t pull out your drawer.

On April 22, 10:30- 14:00, an Earth Week Clothes swap organized by the ASG Environmental and Social Justice Blogspot will take place as part of BC’s Earth Week this year. The event will be held at the BC Cafeteria and everyone’s invited to participate.

All you have to do for the event is to clean out your closet and bring in gently worn pieces to trade with other people. It will be a great way to get a new batch of clothes without spending a whole lot. What’s more, by swapping clothes, we can stop buying clothes from socially and environmentally unjust companies. Think about all the exploited workers and the harm these companies have done to the environment.

Stop holding on to clothes you no longer have feelings for, let them go and who knows, someone else may fall in love with them instantly. Just one little reminder, bring things that are still in good shape but not that dress your aunt gave you three years ago for your birthday that you have never loved and have been using as a tablecloth. If you want to get nice things, bring some in the very first place.
