Atomic bomb survivor tells her story

By Elizabeth Ballinger

In 1944, Hideko Tamura Snider was just ten years old when a nuclear bomb destroyed her home and her family a mile from Hiroshima.

On October 8, Tamura told her war experience to BCC students as part of a tour program running this fall, “Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition” established by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Students gathered in the N-201 auditorium heard her first-hand account of nuclear warfare during her speech and slideshow, “The Challenges of the Dark and Hope for Today’s World.”
