We’ve all been there—there’s an important day coming up (anniversary, birthday, obscure holiday) and you have nearly zero dollars to take your significant other out on a nice date. But fear not! This article is here to save the day.
So there are no good movies in theatres right now besides Evil Dead, which you and your date have already seen at least five times. Rather than give up and picking a random drama that’ll leave you both bawling into your popcorn or a painfully bad romantic comedy, take your date out to dinner and dessert for under $25 dollars! Going out to dinner is more fun than a movie to begin with; over a meal you can engage in that thing we call conversation.
There are plenty of places with good food and even more that have cheap food. However, I suggest that you go somewhere that combines both of those fine qualities. My top pick is Thai Thom (4543 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105) that is unsurprisingly, a delicious Thai restaurant. At this wonderful establishment you can order two entrées and make it out of the place having spent only $20 dollars or less. I personally recommend the phad thai and the panang curry on the menu. Take caution on the spiciness level as asking for your dish to be level 3 spicy or higher, can leave you crying as your mouth burns with the heat of a thousand suns instead of enjoying your food.
Another cool thing about eating at Thai Thom is that the chefs prepare the food right in front of you. Watching them cook is more entertaining than watching any extreme sport since you can see your meal the whole time it’s being made, you know that no one spat in it!
After you and your significant other are done singing your taste buds with delicious Thai food, you can head across the street and down a few blocks to Yogurtland (4334 University Way NE Seattle, WA 98105) to cool your mouths down a bit. For five dollars or less you can get a huge container of frozen yogurt for you and your sweetheart to split. There are at least twelve flavors of deliciousness to choose from and so many toppings you won’t know what to do with them all. The yogurt is just as creamy as ice cream. Since it’s yogurt, you can pretend that it’s some kind of health food. The available flavors rotate, but two particularly good flavors I would try if you can are pistachio and strawberry lemonade.
So there you go! A date for twenty-five dollars or less, and you didn’t even have to go to McDonald’s. Avoiding Mickey D’s is a surefire way to impress your date. Trust me, Thai and yogurt is the way to go. After that, your significant other will forever respect your taste in restaurants.
