When stripped of her personality and, most of all, her wardrobe, Lady Gaga is just another pop artist. She creates music like Britney Spears and every other pop artist, so why all the buzz and fame for this Lady?
Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28, 1986, in New York, NY.
Her strict Italian parents didn’t seem to approve of her aspirations to be a singer and performer.
Instead of sending her to Julliard, they sent her to Convent Sacred Heart Catholic School when she was 11 years old.
However, she kept her passion and began performing at open mic nights at the age of 14. Now at 23, Gaga’s music is heard on every major pop radio station, and her songs are played over and over again.
What sets Gaga apart from the rest of the pop singers are her clothes, which are often not really clothes at all.
In May 2009 she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone’s hot 100 issue in a plastic bubble dress.
She wore the same dress during her ongoing tour, The Fame Ball.
That was only the start of her wardrobe eccentricities. From a Kermit the Frog stuffed animal dress to attaching revolving silver rings to her bustier, Gaga takes getting dressed for shows and concerts to the next level.
At the 2009 MTV video awards she wore several outfits that would scare any little kid, or could more likely be called costumes than outfits.
She hit the red carpet in a black gown with a feathered collar, a gold “Phantom of the Opera” mask and a top hat.
She accepted the Best New Artist award in what can only be described as a red lace mini dress with an attached red lace crown and mask that covered her entire face.
Another wardrobe change included a big, fuzzy abominable snowman helmet paired with a simple sequin dress.
These are only three of the many eccentric fashions Gaga has been seen wearing in the past two years, and she wore them all in one night.
Maybe you don’t really associate Gaga with high fashion or consider her someone you would look up to for fashion ideas, but she is definitely establishing herself as a world-class trendsetter,
She pushes the fashion world and is even shocking people who have been in the industry for years.
