On Oct. 8, 2013 Bellevue College President Dr. David Rule announced his appointment of Dr. Ata Karim as Vice President of Student Services. Karim had previously been serving as the Interim VP of Student Services since January 2013.
According to Rule, Karim was following an internal search. A national search was deemed unnecessary because of expense and because the members of the president’s cabinet, the BC Association of Higher Education President, and Washington Public Employee Association representative felt that Karim was a solid canidate.
“I am honored and humbled by the removal of the interim tag,” said Karim. “It is my commitment to serve the students, faculty, staff, and community to the best of my abilities within a equity and social justice framework.”
