On Wednesday, Oct. 30, either at 2:30 p.m. in N201 or at 3:10 p.m. in B204, students looking to put their math skills to the test can compete in the first round of the American Mathematical Association for Two Year Colleges Student Math League competition. A $3000 scholarship is awarded to the national champion.
Last year, Bellevue College placed third in the Northwest and 17th in the nation.
“Any BC student is welcome, even those not enrolled in a math class!” said math faculty and student math league local moderator Jennifer Laveglia in an email to the campus. “No student simply participating for fun will hurt the team.”
The contest will be a 60 minute timed test consisting of 20 multiple-choice precalculus questions.
Students with questions should contact Laveglia in L200N or jlavegli@bellevuecollege.edu.
