Born on August 25, 1987 in Tarzana, Los Angeles, Blake Christina Lively is an American actress and model who got her big break on Gossip Girl as Serena Van Der Woodsen.
The youngest of five siblings, Blake has a brother, two half-sisters, and a half-brother. Coming from a background in the entertainment industry, Blake has always had a future in entertainment. During her childhood, Blake had the opportunity to grow up with acting classes taught by her parents. This gave her the knowledge she needed to be a successful actress today.
Blake apparently had no interest in becoming an actress, but thanks to her brother, she was sent out by his agent to a couple auditions nabbing her the role of Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, starting her career. She was nominated for Choice Movie Breakout – Female for a Teen Choice Award.
She has since starred with Justin Long in Accepted, had some minor roles in the horror film Simon Says; played Anabelle a bulimic girl who hoped to win a beauty pageant in Elvis and Anabelle; then was cast in the CW’s series Gossip Girl, which premiered in September 2007. She played Bridget again in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Her most acclaimed role was her supporting role in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Her most recent role was Carol Ferris in the Green Lantern.
There have been many awards she has been nominated for, but the awards she have won were from Gossip Girl in 2008 for Choice Female Hottie, Choice TV Actress Drama, Choice TV Breakout Star – Female. She has also won an award from the Newport Beach Film Festival for Elvis and Anabelle for Achievement Award – Breakout Performance.
Lively has dated many different people. Blake dated a childhood friend Kelly Blatz from 2004 to 2007. She then started a rumor in late 2007 that she was dating Penn Badgley who she did confirm dating until mid-September 2010. Blake has now been in the spotlight for being caught with Leonardo Di Caprio. They haven’t confirmed anything, but they have made an appearance together and there are photos going around expressing their love for each other.
Blake Lively is only 23 years old and still has a lot going for her. As she is still on Gossip Girl playing her role as Serena, I am sure we will be seeing more of her this if not next year.
