The fight Mayweather vs. Ortiz ended with controversy when undefeated Floyd Mayweather ended the fight by knocking out Victor Ortiz. The fight however, was ruled completely legal, giving “Pretty Boy” Floyd an overall record of 42-0.

The controversy was over the fourth round knockout. The fight had been stopped by referee Joe Cortez because of an illegal head butt by Ortiz.

After the incident Ortiz hugged and  appeared to kiss Floyd on the cheek. After that little display of affection again when the fighters met in the middle ring after the ref had penalized Victor Ortiz for the illegal head butt, Ortiz hugged Mayweather again, but this time Floyd put Victor to sleep with a one-two combo that Ortiz did not even see coming.

Many thought that the fight hadn’t even resumed, when in fact it actually had.

Many boxing fans, as well as boxing writers, called the one-two combo that Mayweather landed on Ortiz “a classless act.” However I think that it’s Ortiz’s responsibility to realize that yes, the fight has in fact resumed.

Let’s not forget that the first rule in boxing is to protect yourself at all times, something Victor surely did not do.

Now the bigger issue is at hand; will Mayweather finally fight Manny Pacquiao? This is the fight that everyone in boxing wants to see happen.

The two best fighters in the sport have not yet been able to settle on terms to fight on. Mayweather makes his opponent agree to random Olympic style drug testing in order to fight.

Manny does not want to take part in that style of drug testing, which is why Floyd says he will not sign a contract to fight him. Critics accuse Mayweather of ducking the fight.

If the two were to fight it is estimated that each fighter would be guaranteed around $50 million. Floyd, just sign that contract so we all can see the fight we’ve been waiting too long for.

We will just have to wait and see now if the mega fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao ever happens. as for Mayweather’s last bout he, won it legally. I know it looked awkward in the final seconds, but everyone was equally at fault, and the better fighter prevailed.

If Mayweather did not knock Ortiz out in the fourth round incident, he still would have prevailed and won. My fingers are crossed in hopes that we will be able to see Pacquiao vs. Mayweather in the near future.

I’m Hoping we get to see the fight next year!
