This 2022 school year, Bellevue College’s wellness center is offering a series of outdoor winter events. The events are designed to help you learn a new and exciting skill. The events being offered are snowshoeing, indoor rock climbing, mountain biking, wilderness plogging, and a guided hike and geocache. A $5 registration fee is required, but it will cover all costs for the events.

The introduction to snowshoeing event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in which participants will be taught basic snowshoeing information along with route selection for the best viewpoints to be seen. People who want to come should be ready for winter weather conditions and dress and pack accordingly.

The introduction to indoor rock climbing event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. where participants will learn the basics of rock climbing, from bouldering to top-rope climbing. Participants do not need to bring any gear.

The introduction to mountain biking event will be held on Wednesday, March 2 from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. in which participants will learn the basics of mountain biking and what makes trail riding so exciting. Bikes and helmets are going to be provided and a list of what participants need to bring will be emailed out a week prior to the event.

The wilderness plogging event will be held on Friday, March 11 from 1:30 – 5:00 p.m. Plogging is an activity in which participants will be actively moving and helping the community stay clean while also spreading information about pollution and the awareness of litter. Gloves and trash bags will be provided as people come in, and an informative email will be sent out a week prior to the event.

The guided group geocache hike will be held on Thursday, March 17 from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m, in which participants will be hiking up and around Rattlesnake Mountain. Participants should come with comfortable shoes, some source of light, and a full day’s worth of water, food, and clothing.

These are all the activities being held for Bellevue College’s outdoor winter adventure events of 2022. Make sure to register before it’s too late!
